more The ANRS-AERLI study (2009-2013), a national multi-site community-based intervention which consisted in assessing the impact of an injection-centred face-to-face educational session for people who inject drugs (PWIDs) proved its efficacy to reduce HIV/HCV infections and other blood borne infectious risks.

Project: The injection-centred education session includes: 1) direct observation by trained PE of participants' self-injection (with their preferred psychoactive substance); 2) analysis by the PE of the participant's injecting practices, identification of injection-related risks and explanation of safer injecting practices; and 3) an educational exchange allowing the participants to question their injection practices.

In the Occitania region three low-threshold drug user centers of the community-based organization AIDES decided to conduct a situation analysis to identify potential facilitators and barriers to the implementation of educational interventions with observed injection. At each assessment, the patients underwent a general examination, a neurootological evaluation, psychiatric interviews, and psychopathological assessments conducted by a multidisciplinary team.Overall, 38 patients (63.4%) were given diagnoses of some form of psychopathological complaint. In this paper we briefly present the development of both research fields and we explore their similarities. An empirical study on a minority group of Romany students is presented in order to illustrate on the one hand ...Samenvatting Het gebruik van videobanden als middel tot zelfobservatie kan enkel de professionele ontwikkeling bevorderen als het de autonomie en de eigenzinnige constructie van de professional versterkt.Abstract The use of video tapes as a means of self-observation can only increase professional development if it reinforces the psychic autonomy and the idiosyncratic construction of the professional.Although D' Ambrosio (2001) in his later work speaks about the political dimension of Ethnomathematics as 'an evidence'and the researchers of Critical Mathematics Education have incorporated ethnomathematical ideas in their...more Although D' Ambrosio (2001) in his later work speaks about the political dimension of Ethnomathematics as 'an evidence'and the researchers of Critical Mathematics Education have incorporated ethnomathematical ideas in their research, these two approaches are up to now perceived as separate research fields.A scientific process or scientific method requires observations of nature and formulating and testing the hypothesis. One important thing to note is that human senses are subject to errors in perception e.g., optical illusions which can results in erroneous scientific observation. This is why scientific instruments were developed to improve and magnify human powers of observations like microscopes, cameras, telescopes, weight scales, computers, oscilloscopes, radio receivers etc.
