The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Love Letters’ and we want you to pack them with romance, originality and creativity.Designed to encourage and celebrate new writing across the globe, the competition is open internationally to new and established writers.Awarded by the University Centre Grimsby, our annual Hammond House Short Story Prize attracts writers from around the world in search of recognition, publication and valuable feedback.Our focus is on helping people make sounder choices around the way we grow, eat, and dispose of food.We’re soliciting manuscripts and book proposals for eco-oriented books that are both inspirational and a very good read.We are accepting books in the following categories: memoirs, guidebooks, biographies, children’s books, young adult fiction, and narrative nonfiction.Celebrating Manchester as an international city of writers, finding diverse new voices, and creating opportunities for writer development.Cash prizes are kindly donated by Estuary Words and The James Reckitt Library Trust.Write a short story of 1200-3000 about anything that changes, from the seasons, to relationships to attitudes, and more.Events that are free to enter are highlighted and marked as ‘featured’.Clicking on an event will open a new page with a detailed description and a link to the organizer’s submission page.
